...seen someone somewhere, and they go to give you a hug and as you are hugging you realize... and you know they must too, "we've never hugged each other before" and then it's kind of awkward. Someone just gave me an awkward hug.

That's why i recommend the A-Frame. It is half a hug. You align yourself with their side and put one hand on their sholder. It has the physical contact of a hug, but a little less awkward.
I had an awkward hug yesterday, too! I'd only met the person for the first time, but when they went to give a hug to the girl I was with (whom they'd known for a long time), they felt obligated to give a hug to me as well. Personally a hand shake would have been fine!
Hi Jenn--Saw your name on Todd and Micah's site. Thought we would pay you a visit. Here's the thing. You need to move to Valpo and talk Nick into coming too so we can do church...I miss your voice...Adam and Mims
I got the awkward hug and kiss on the head from an old lady in our choir the other day. She was on the riser, a couple of rows up. I was on the floor. She leaned over, grabbe my head, hugged it, then kissed my skull. That was a lot of fun for me. I can't wait for it to happen agian.
There is always one guy at church that will do that....I don't think I have ever attended a church that didn't have the awkward hugger...and wouldn't you know it? They almost always are the greeters!
I love those moments - infact i love being the one to make people feel uncomfortable. Just playing. Apppreciate you Jenn - thanks for being a friend and a great pastor to the students.

i have...only magnified by the triple pat at the end. ah yes, the awkward pat.
Better than a big wet kiss I suppose! :-) I'm a fan of the hug - however awkward it may be.

no that has never happened to me...being the hugger i am.
unless you are speaking of the evangelical sideways hug - why bother?! i'm all for high fives!

the only thing worse than the awkward hug is the awkward should we hug or not dance done just before the actual hug
Anythings better than an awkward chop to the forearm with a meat cleaver.
