I mowed my lawn yesterday. This was the first time I mowed MY lawn with MY lawnmower (bought Sunday - that felt odd). I love mowing the lawn. I love the smell of cut grass. I love what a cut lawn looks like. I love the work and being outside.
I'm so glad spring is here.

I am very glad spring has arrived as well!!
i have to think how cool it must be to OWN a lawnmower for YOUR OWN lawn. i mean, not cool in the grand scheme of things, but neat for you after having rented for all your life to have a place that you own that you need to have stuff like that to take care of it. what's next - a snow blower? hedge clippers? crazy times jenn swift! though a baby step compared to this, i remember when i first moved into a house that was not my parents, and while i was a little frustrated spending money on things like toilet paper, there was a little bit of satisfaction like, "yes. i have arrived!"
and yes, i have succeeded in making a comment longer than your actual post. i am amazing! :-)
I LOVE to mow the lawn too!! Sep is doing maintenance on our mowers today - yes, that's mowers!! We have 2 since we mow 2 acres we often tag team the lawn! ha! This year will be a little tougher - Sep says I'm not allowed to mow since we're expecting our first child end of June. We'll see...what he's not here to stop I can't help...I love following your blog!
Jenn,
If you ever, and I mean ever, want to mow a lawn...look no further. I grew up mowing 10 acres of my parents lawn sometimes twice a week, and I feel that my debt to the lawnmowing society has been paid in full. You are more than welcome to come on up to Detroit and take the old "Yard Machine" for a trip around the property. For an even bigger thrill, my parents still mow those same 10 acres at their home in Marion, IN and would gladly let you have a turn. No really, I promise. Enjoy your spring!
Dave, I like mowing my lawn because it takes 25 min. I don't think the Gaff house lawn takes 25 min. But thanks for the kind and generous offer! Ha ha.
Jenn, I absolutely abhore mowing the lawn. If I ever get a house with a yard, it is going to be astro turf and I will only have to paint it once a year.
Did I type abhore? I meant abhor. Abhore is the more promiscuous spelling of abhor. I apologize for this mistake.
Allison! Congratulations on the new babe coming your way! Good news. A girl I know asked me the other day, "is that the Allison with the accordian?" - yes, that's the one.
I'll think of you today because it needs anther mow. I don't have 2 acres.
Its been a long time, you probably don't even remember me, but you can come mow my lawn if you want... I also love the smell of freshly cut grass.
